Denmans are part of the Rexel Group and recognises its responsibility to play its part in building a sustainable world. We are working hard to make sustainability a key part of our everyday operations and have included environmental and social governance (ESG) in our future business plans and strategy. We have set targets to reduce our environmental footprint and to raise our customers' awareness of their contribution to those impacts. We see ESG as a key component in creating value for us and our customers.
Both the modern home and workplace are now better heated, cooled and have vastly more technology than they did even 20 years ago, leading to constant increasing energy demand. As the awareness and acceptance of climate change and its impacts has spread, the desire to obtain energy from cleaner sources has risen. Denmans recognises that a sustainable business in the future must be built on a foundation of adopting and promoting of clean energy and innovative energy-efficient solutions.
Our purpose serves as a compass to guide us in our daily actions, supporting our strategy and ensuring we continue to make a positive impact on the world.
Denmans' purpose also highlights our privileged relationship with our customers, because it is built on the foundation of our shared commitment to promoting the adoption of new products and new solutions to improve the comfort, security and energy performance of installations, infrastructure and buildings.
We are committed to bringing electrifying solutions to all sectors, and making the energy transition happen. Our customers are an essential part of our effort to make a sustainable future possible, and our passionate, dedicated and highly knowledgeable teams strive every day to make your activities easier, more efficient and more sustainable.
Take a look at how our Purpose Statement and Manifesto are embedded in our business
Denmans became a signatory of the UN Global Compact in 2011. This commits us to respect and promote human rights and working conditions, to preserve the environment, and to fight corruption throughout the supply chain. This means Denmans has committed to act with ethics and integrity in its business dealings, to recognise and develop the skills of its employees, to build trust-based relationships with all of its stakeholders, to reduce its environmental footprint, to promote energy management, and through the Rexel Group Foundation, to fight fuel poverty. Reducing Carbon is our ESG key performance indicator (KPI). Denmans aims to reach net-zero carbon emissions across the value chain by 2050, in two stages.
Carbon reduction objective | Reduction by 2030 | Reduction by 2050 |
---|---|---|
To reduce the carbon related to the energy consumption of its operations (Scopes 1 and 2), compared with 2016. | 65% | 90% |
To reduce per euro of sales, the carbon related to the use of its products (Scope 3), compared with 2016. | 45% | 90% |
As a sign of their commitment, the Rexel Group Board agreed to tie 25% of their potential bonus to the achievement of the carbon targets and several other ESG measures.
“The Rexel Group has been a member of the UN Global Compact since 2011. For us, it is a powerful and symbolic commitment to human rights and labor standards, protecting the environment, and fighting corruption. We will continue to strive to apply these universal principles through concrete initiatives and to promote them among our partners. It is a collective support and continuous improvement process, and we reaffirm our desire to contribute to it.”
Guillaume Texier, Chief Executive Officer of Rexel
